Suffolk – the poor relation when it comes to roads

by Sue Carpendale on 8 April, 2017

Some years ago, a local council planning officer said to me: “People in Suffolk will have to get used to sitting in traffic jams!” Really?  Is this the kind of future we want? The Copdock interchange is bad enough now, but there are literally hundreds of homes approved on the edge of Ipswich – yet to be started – and hundreds more all around us applied for that can only make matters worse.

Just recently there has been a consultation about improvements to the A120 and the A12 – but only as far as Colchester.  Suffolk has been ignored yet again.

And it’s not just the daily nightmare of Copdock and the A12 with its sub-standard junctions. There are villages further afield, with narrow country roads, which suffer from poor transport links.  We allegedly want to grow the economy, but Government isn’t prepared to put in the infrastructure to make it happen.
